Canine Services & Vaccinations
Core vaccines are recommended for all pets with an unknown vaccination history, as they protect against diseases that infect dogs or cats of all life stages and lifestyles. The diseases involved have high rates of infection, pose a threat to the pet’s life, and/or are a danger to human health.

Non-core vaccines are optional vaccines that should be considered in light of the exposure risk of the animal (i.e., based on the pet’s lifestyle).
Non-Core Vaccinations
Bordetella $30 One-year
-
Vaccination is recommended for dogs at risk of exposure (dogs that visit boarding kennels, dog parks, groomers, etc.).
-
The initial vaccination can be given as young as 8 weeks old. While the oral and intranasal versions of the vaccine do not need to be boostered, if your dog receives the injectable vaccine it should be boostered 3-4 weeks after the initial vaccine. The Bordetella vaccine should be administered annually thereafter if the dog remains at risk of exposure.
-
Some individual boarding or grooming facilities may require the vaccine to be administered every 6 months.

Leptospirosis $30 One-year
If combined with the Distemper vaccination, the price is reduced to $15
-
The Leptospirosis vaccination protects against 4 strains of Leptospirosis. This vaccine may not provide complete protection and cannot protect against all strains of the virus.
-
The initial vaccination series includes the first vaccination followed by a booster 3-4 weeks later. The vaccine is then administered on an annual basis after the initial series.

Canine Influenza H3N2 & H3N8 $40 One-year
-
Canine influenza (CI), or dog flu, is a highly contagious viral infection affecting dogs and also cats. Canine influenza is transmitted through droplets or aerosols containing respiratory secretions from coughing, barking, and sneezing. Dogs in close contact with infected dogs in places such as kennels, groomers, daycare facilities, and shelters are at increased risk of infection.
-
The initial vaccination series includes the first vaccination followed by a booster 3-4 weeks later. The vaccine is then administered on an annual basis after the initial series.

Lyme/Borrelia $40 One-year
-
Lyme disease is transmitted through the bite of an infected tick. Clinical signs of Lyme disease may not appear for several months after a dog is infected and including fever. Lethargy, painful joints, and inappetence. It is important that pets also receive a monthly tick preventative in addition to the vaccination because ticks can transmit other diseases besides Lyme.
-
The initial vaccination series includes the first vaccination followed by a booster 3-4 weeks later. The vaccine is then administered on an annual basis after the initial series.

Heartworm Disease & Tick-Borne Disease Testing $25 Heartworm ONLY $40 Heartworm & Tick-Borne Disease
Testing is performed in our clinic so you can have results during your visit!
-
Heartworm disease is a serious disease that results in severe lung disease, heart failure, other organ damage, and death in pets, mainly dogs, cats, and ferrets. It is caused by a parasitic worm that is spread through the bite of a mosquito.
-
The best treatment is prevention! Although heartworm disease is treatable, it can be quite intensive and can cause serious complications, such as life-threatening blood clots to the dog’s lungs. Treatment is expensive because it requires multiple visits to the veterinarian, bloodwork, x-rays, hospitalization, and a series of injections. Preventing heartworm disease is easy! Most products are given monthly, either as a topical liquid applied on the skin or as an oral tablet.
-
For dogs 7 months of age and older, annual testing for Heartworm Disease is highly recommended. A negative heartworm test is required before we dispense monthly heartworm prevention. Year-round prevention is best!
-
Just like dogs, cats are also at risk for heartworm disease!

FeLV / FIV Combo Testing $45
Testing is performed in our clinic so you can have results during your visit!
-
Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) are contagious, untreatable diseases in cats. Cats that go outside are at increased risk for exposure to FeLV and FIV.
-
FeLV is generally transmitted through contact with saliva from an infected cat. Certain social behaviors such as mutual grooming and sharing food or water bowls can spread the disease. Kittens can become infected during fetal development or during the first days of life as their mothers nurse and care for them. With FeLV infection, some kittens may test positive at first but test negative later if their immune system has been able to eliminate the infection
-
FIV is also transmitted through contact with saliva from an infected cat. However, most cats contract FIV through bite wounds sustained during fights with FIV-infected cats rather than through social behaviors. Kittens whose mothers were infected with FIV may test positive when they are very young but test negative later as the antibodies they received while nursing from their mother wear off. Some veterinarians, therefore, recommend retesting young kittens when they are older (for example, at 6 months of age) to verify whether they are still positive.
-
This test is performed in our veterinary office by performing a blood test.
