Mass Removal & Histopathology

Mass removal procedures are available for all pets but may require diagnostics such as radiographs or bloodwork prior to surgery.
During mass removal procedures, pet owners have the option to have the mass sent for histopathology. While this is not a required step, it can provide valuable information. Histopathology is crucial for:

  • Differentiating Benign from Cancerous Tumors: It helps determine whether a mass is benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).

  • Cancer Staging: Histopathology plays a key role in determining how advanced a cancer is, which can be essential for treatment planning.

  • Cancer Grading: It also helps assess how aggressive the cancer is, aiding in decisions about the best course of action for treatment if needed.

If you are interested in histopathology or have any questions, please feel free to discuss it with us during your presurgical consultation. Please call, text or email to schedule a consultation.
